L.A. is getting the rest of its rain out of the way, so that on Saturday we'll enjoy a dry day with partly sunny skies and a decent temperature! Above, the consensus appears to be no rain, and a high between 70 and 73. Not a bad day for a walk! Bring a hat and sunscreen, and dress comfortably! (Oh and maybe bring a cover for when it gets cool during sunset.) See you on Saturday!

KCAL's Great LA Walk Weather Forecast: "It's Going to Be Fantastic," Promises Meteorologist Evelyn Taft

Listen to KCAL meteorologist Evelyn Taft! Thanks to the station for letting me participate in last night's "Shameless Weekend Weather Plug," where I got a chance to spread the word about tomorrow's Great LA Walk! 

And yes, you've heard this weekend might be a little wet in Los Angeles — but have no fear. Per Evelyn, the drizzle will be minor on Saturday morning. And as a matter of fact, the weather will be cool enough that we won't be breaking a sweat walking our 13.5 miles across town! 

So ignore the folks worried about the rain, tomorrow looks like a fantastic day for a Great LA Walk! "The weather is going to be fantastic as we head into the weekend," she says. Listen to Evelyn Taft! And see you tomorrow!

Forecast: Don't Be Afraid of a Little Rain, But Bring Your Umbrella!

Hi everyone, we’ve been monitoring the weather and constantly refreshing the forecast on weather.com and right now, it says: “Cloudy. Periods of rain early. High 66F. Winds light and variable.” That sounds very much like light rain (hopefully before we kick off), and then overcast skies — but nothing we can’t handle. Bring an umbrella and a jacket just in case, but if anything, this will be a nice, cool environment to do this year’s walk.

The last time we faced rain was the 2010 Great LA Walk, and the day started a bit wet. But it cleared up and the Walkers who stuck it out were treated to a perfect day for a stroll. Not too hot, no swealtering sun. We live in LA, and we know how the rain goes. It's never as bad -- or lasts as long -- as we think. And this year, we'll be walking in urban areas where it will always be easy to dash into a restaurant and grab a snack in case you want to wait some wet stuff out. Hope to see you all on Saturday!

According to both The Weather Channel and Accuweather, we're in for a nice Saturday with sunny skies and a temperature of around 73 degrees. Although the UV index is relatively low, that will still mean making sure you lather up with the sunscreen, and bring sunglasses and hats. But also keep in mind it will be colder in the morning, and also get chilly as we get close to the shore -- so also consider a sweatshirt in your backpack, just in case! See you on Saturday!

For the Great Los Angeles Walk, you want it not too sunny, not too dark -- and not too hot, but not too cold. And please, no rain. This Saturday, it looks to be about perfect. Still bring your hats and sunscreen just in case, but it appears that Mother Nature will be cooperating as we embark at 9 am from San Gabriel Mission!

Things will start a bit chilly at 60 degrees as we embark on our journey, but it won't get too hot, with temperatures predicted to max out at 72 degrees. No rain in sight, and just a gentle breeze. Looks like you can keep the umbrellas at home. (No surprise, given the dry year we're having.) But you might want to grab a light jacket or wear your shirt over long sleeves. It's going to be a high of just 69 degrees in the Valley.

In other words, a PERFECT day for a long urban hike! There will be clouds too, so no burning sun. It couldn't be any better. (OK, perhaps 75 degrees would be a touch nicer. But we'll live.) See you Saturday!

Weather Forecast: Looking Good for Saturday

I don't want to jinx it, but it's looking pretty good for Saturday! Not too hot, not too cold, and so far no talk of rain.

So far. Remember, the Great Los Angeles Walk happens rain or shine! We've walked through sprinkles and rain before, and have come out just fine. There was one year where the rain even cooperated and stopped by the time we headed out.

But let's stop that talk right now. So far, it's looking great for Saturday. (Remember though: As we walk toward the ocean and as the sun sets, it starts to get chilly -- so bring a sweatshirt or jacket in your backpack just in case!)
