Important Information for This Saturday's Walk: What You Need To Know

Greetings, fellow Great LA Walkers! This year's event is fast approaching, and hope to see many of you this Saturday. The weather looks to be perfect for a day outdoors -- but don't forget the sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses!

Keep tabs here at GreatLAWalk.com and on our Twitter feed for the latest info! (And check our FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for more tips and info.) We'll post our handout -- including a map -- here later this week. Now, some important notes for Saturday:

1. PARKING: It's free and plentiful at the Arcadia County Park, near the fountain where we're meeting. This might be a good bet to make sure you get to the Walk on time; and then either take the Gold Line or a rideshare back to the park when you're done.

2. BREAKFAST:
Monarch Donuts, located across the street from our meeting place, is known for their amazing apple fritters and other donuts. They are aware we're going to be there, and ready to sell us donuts and coffee before the Walk begins! Of course, get there early for the goods: If the line gets too long, there will be plenty of other places to grab a bite on our route.

3. WE WILL LEAVE PROMPTLY AT 9 A.M. Because the Walk is a bit longer this year, we'll do our welcomes and take the group photo beforehand. Plan your arrival accordingly!

4. ARBORETUM START: Can't make it at 9 a.m., or don't want to walk by Santa Anita Race Track? (I get it.) We'll be passing by the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, located at 301 North Baldwin Avenue, at approximately 9:30 a.m. You can wait there in the front courtyard area and join us as we arrive.

5. PASADENA START:
The first hour of the Walk is a bit of a prelude to the main hike down Colorado. If you want to join us in time to walk the Pasadena portion of the walk, gather at 10 a.m. at the Dunn-Edwards Paints parking lot, at the corner of Colorado Blvd. and Michillinda. (Don't park in the lot, however -- there is plenty of street parking around the area.) Again, wait until we arrive, approximately 10:10 a.m., and join the crowd!

6. LUNCH: There's no recommended lunch spot this year, but countless choices to try in Old Town Pasadena. In the next day or two we'll be posting our handout, featuring recommendations by foodie H.C. So!

7. AT THE END: Stick around in front of City Hall, and we'll gather as many finishers as possible to take the group photo! Make sure you're memorialized as part of this year's Great L.A. Walk-ers!

8. AFTER PARTY: And then join us at The Redwood Bar and Grill (316 W. 2nd St. in downtown) to celebrate! They've set aside a place in the restaurant for Great LA Walkers to relax, purchase some food and beverage, and recap the day! The Redwood boasts a pirate/nautical theme and is open to all ages to eat. They're expecting our group there between 5 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 23 and will have a space for us.

9. DISCLAIMER: Don't forget, you're walking on your own accord, The Great LA Walk is not a real organization, we're just looking for an opportunity to explore our community on foot with some new and old friends! Do as much or as little of the path as you'd like, but TAKE YOUR TIME. This is not a race, it's a chance to see the city up close and in ways you can't when you're speeding by in a car. Explore, learn, meet new people and have fun!

10. BE SOCIAL: Be sure to follow the Walk on Twitter and Instagram: @greatlawalk. And tag it #GLAW !

See you Saturday!
