And even better: Papi is offering 10% off to anyone who mentions the Great Los Angeles Walk!! Some of the faster walkers will probably make it there by 4, but most of us will end the walk, take a group photo at the Santa Monica statue (at the very end of Wilshire) and then hit Papi at sundown, around 5 p.m. (And the real partiers, the ones who take the Walk seriously and hit the restaurants and bars along the way) will probably join us closer to 6 or 7!

After Party Details: Join Us to Toast at Broxton Brewery & Public House in Westwood, and Check Out the Broxton Plaza Holiday Market!

After meeting at the end of the walk and taking some pictures in front of the UCLA entrance, we'll be heading to Broxton Brewery & Public House (1099 Westwood Blvd.) to celebrate! (I wish I had the money to pay for all of us, but alas, you're on your own with covering your food/drink.) They know we're coming, and the good news is there's an expansive patio for Great LA Walkers to relax, order some food and beverage, and recap the day!

(A warning that their kitchen may be taxed if too many of us order at once, but at the very least we can toast the day with some drinks.)

And besides that, the other attraction will be in the courtyard next to the Broxton: The annual Broxton Plaza Holiday Market! Hosted by the Westwood Village Improvement Association and The Pop-Up Shoppe, "this family-friendly event transforms Broxton Plaza into a festive winter wonderland filled with music, entertainment, and seasonal cheer."

Be sure to sign up here to let them know you're coming.

Among their event highlights:

🛍Shop Small for the Holidays: Shop small for the holidays this year and browse a curated selection of holiday artisan vendors.
🎶 The Soundbox DJ Truck: Enjoy holiday tunes and dance under the snowfall to feel holiday cheer.
🎨 Kids' Crafts and Activities: Keep the little ones entertained with holiday-themed crafts and fun activities designed just for them.
🎤 Special Holiday Performances: Delight in a holiday performance by UCLA performers
🎅 Santa and Mrs. Claus Photo Op: Capture the holiday spirit with a festive photo op featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus! Perfect for families, friends, and holiday card moments.

Bee Taqueria Is Our Lunch Spot, and Join Us for the After-Party at Fat Sal's Venice — Special Deals at Both!

We've got an official lunch spot and afterparty spot for this year's Great Los Angeles Walk!

LUNCH: Bee Taqueria (5754 W Adams Blvd.) has signed on to be our official lunch spot. Chef Enrique Olvera will be preparing a taco deal for all Walk-ers who mention they're a part of The Great Los Angeles Walk. I've heard great things about Bee Taqueria and can't wait to try it (but if you're not in the mood for tacos, there are plenty of other options in the area too).

Here's how L.A. Taco describes Bee Taqueria:
While most self-proclaimed taco-eating experts will stop to tell you what a taco should be, this taco omakase is here to show you how radically chingón a taco can be.

Bee Taquería is a vibrant and colorful space with a taquería vibe serving brilliant culinary splendors on a tortilla. It is also home to one of only two famous taco omakase globally; the other is found at the restaurant Pujol in Mexico City, a restaurant by the gastronomical dignitary, Chef Enrique Olvera.

Through Bee’s taco omakase, chef Alex Carrasco invites you to kick back and leave behind your preconceptions of what a taco should be. The daytime menu does not apply. There are no order substitutions and no “salsa on the side, please.” In an omakase experience, you kick back, let the chef do his thing, and enjoy an experience that will be uniquely yours.

The meal is more than just a random selection of tacos. It’s an experience that challenges the perception of the tortilla as just a thin, flat, circular vehicle that Mexicans use to eat their food. It is an exhibition in the art of the taco as a canvas for flavors, colors, and imagination.

AFTER-PARTY: Fal Sal's (37 Washington Blvd) will be our gathering spot at the end of the walk, and Sal himself has promised a special for anyone who orders a sandwich. Kick back, celebrate with your fellow Walk-ers and end the day in delicious fashion!

Via Eater:
At its brightest, Los Angeles can feel extravagant. The lights of the Sunset Strip, the pulse of Hollywood Boulevard, the revelry of downtown: added together, the city is a lot, all the time.

In some ways, that makes Fat Sal’s a perfect fit. According to Sal Capek, the restaurant’s co-founder and namesake: “We work hard to come up with unique and exciting combinations and flavor profiles that result in mouthwatering, over-the-top culinary creations.”

What does “over-the-top” mean in the sandwich world? How about mozzarella sticks and onion rings as toppings, rather than sides, on the Fat Sal sandwich? Or the barbecue-themed Fat Texas, with a three-animal combination of pastrami brisket, chicken fingers, and mozzarella sticks? Even one of the menu’s salads contains fries.

See you next Saturday!

The Redwood Bar & Grill Is This Year's After-Walk Gathering Spot: Eat, Drink and Celebrate!

After meeting at the end of the walk and taking some pictures in front of City Hall, we'll be heading to The Redwood Bar & Grill (316 W. 2nd St. in downtown) to celebrate! (I wish I had the money to pay for all of us, but alas, you're on your own with covering your food/drink.) They've set aside a place in the restaurant for Great LA Walkers to relax, order some food and beverage, and recap the day! The Redwood boasts a pirate/nautical theme and is open to all ages to eat. They're expecting our group there between 5 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 23 and will have a space for us.

Here's how the Redwood describes itself:
If the legendary explorer Amerigo Vespucci opened a bar on one his early trips to America it would have been just like the Redwood. Warm, intimate and inviting, the Redwood welcomes you into the galley with an Ahoy! Sit at one of the Captain's tables and sample the culinary delights from around the world, or pull up a stool and listen to the finest musicalacts the City of Angels has to offer. The Redwood is here for you.

And even more detail from Yelp, which notes that the Redwood was first established in 1942:
Located near the L.A. Times building, the Redwood has hosted lawyers, bail bondsmen, politicians like Bobby Kennedy and Richard Nixon, and, not surprisingly, hundreds of journalists. So many L.A. Times reporters frequented the bar that, for several years, the Times paid for a direct phone line to the Redwood. And that bright red phone still hangs on the wall by the door at the Redwood. "It was installed by the L.A. Times so they could call across to here to get a hold of a reporter or photographer — because they were in here so often. Up until a couple of years ago, it was still live," Bartlett says, "It even has an extension number on it.

You've also seen the Redwood in several films, such as "Bridesmaids" and "(500) Days of Summer."
